Summer’s Sunday surplus: Sly, “Snowpiercer,” etc.

Summertime TV is looking less sparse now.
CBS has announced a schedule that includes “Big Brother,” “Let’s Make a Deal” and transplanted episodes of Sylvester Stallone’s “Tulsa King” (shown here).
That news came on the same day as others – the final “Snowpiercer” season, on AMC, and hard-rock biographies on A&E. Both are on Sundays, when PBS has its dramas.

Good news: “Snowpiercer” is rescued

Happy endings are possible, it seems, even in the grimmest circumstances. That’s:
— Even in a post-apocalyptic world in which most folks have frozen to death; and
— Even in something that the Discovery people have touched.
In short, “Snowpiercer” (shown here) has been rescued. Its first three seasons will rerun later this year on AMC+; its fourth one will debut early next year on AMC. Read more…

Cable in 2021? TBS, TNT, TruTV try

After facing a brutal 2020, some cable channels are ready for better things in 2020.
TBS will lasunch the “Go-Big Show” – a competition that may grab cable’s wrestling fans – on Jan. 7. Then TNT will launch the second season of “Snowpiercer” (shown here), its ambitious fantasy drama, Jan. 25. The next day, TBS starts a new season of its “Misery Index” game show.
Eight days later, Tru TV will start the season for its “Impractical Jokers,” followed by the new “Fast Foodies” and “Impractical Jokers: After Party.” Read more…
