Easter week will be busy and Biblical

TV is ready for its Easter surge.
That starts April 12, with Moses on the mountain top (shown here); it concludes eight days later with an Easter Day surge of movies, music and drama
Some of this is fueled by the era when audiences (and movie studios) savored Biblical epics. During the 1950s, four of the annual box-office champions were Biblical. Three of those – “Quo Vadis,” “The Ten Commandments” and “Ben-Hur” – also drew Oscar nominations for best picture … and will be shown this year. (The fourth was “The Robe.”) Read more…

In the dog-limb world, he’s a superstar

Derrick Campana never expected that he’d be a BYUtv star, making artificial limbs for dogs and such.
“I had never heard of animal prosthetics,” he told the Television Critics Association.
Then again, he hadn’t heard of BYUtv. Many people haven’t.
But here he is: “Wizard of Paws” launches its second season at 9 p.m. ET Wednesday (April 28) – the same time that Joe Biden gives his first address to Congress – and reruns at midnight, on BYUtv. Read more…

Remember massive music? Here’s a reminder

For months, show-business has been adjusting to a less-is-more approach.
At times, the result can be splendid. Kelli O’Hara showed that with gorgeous solos during PBS specials for Memorial Day and the 4th of July.
But now there’s a flip side – a reminder that more is more. Viewers will see her Christmas concert (shown here), taped a year ago with the Tabernacle Choir.
