We kind of thought it would. But Fox will also offer a surprise – new cartoon episodes (including “The Great North,” shown here) every Thursday, starting May 29.
New, scripted shows have become scarce in the summertime. There have been some on PBS, CW and cable, but not on the big-four networks.
Fox, however, has been loading up on cartoons. Its Sunday ones (including “The Simpsons” and “Krapopolous”) will end their season May 18 and retreat to reruns. But then a Thursday line-up starts 11 days later.
In addition to those Sunday reruns, Fox tends to have sports on weekends. Here’s what has been announced so far for Mondays through Thursdays:
— Cartoons. “Bob’s Burgers,” “Grimsburg,” “Family Guy,” “The Great North”; 8-10 p.m. Thursdays, starting May 29.
— Ramsay food shows: “MasterChef” and the new “Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service,” 8 and 9 p.m. Wednesdays, May 21.
— Quiz shows: “The Quiz With Balls,” 9 p.m. Mondays, June 2; “The 1% Club” (now with Joel McHale hosting), 8 p.m. Tuesdays, June 10.
— More competitions: “Lego Masters,” 8 p.m. Mondays, May 19; the new “The Snake,” 9 p.m. Tuesdays, June 10.
