1) “I Am Burt Reynolds” (2020), 8 p.m., CW. Reynolds (shown here) chose Florida State because it matched his prime interests – girls and football. He excelled at both, until two injuries forced a detour. He transformed into an action hero with a breezy sense of humor; for five straight years, he was No. 1 at the box office. It was a fascinating life, skillfully described here.

2) “Harper” (1966), 8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies. Like Reynolds, Paul Newman was a rarity — a leading man who could leap between action, drama and comedy. In this excellent movie, he’s a tattered private eye, hired by Lauren Bacall. In the “Drowning Pool” (1975), at 10:15, he plays the same character opposite Joanne Woodward, his real-life wife.
3) “The Equalizer,” 8 p.m., CBS. With the season-finale coming up (May 4), here’s an earlier episode. Robyn (Queen Latifah) and Mel go undercover in a prison, to where a prisoner disappeared on the day she was supposed to be released.
4) Basketball, all day. TNT has games at 1 (Cavs-Heat), 3:30 (Thunder-Grizzlies) and 6 p.m. ET (Nuggets-Clippers). Then ABC takes over at 8:30 with Rockets-Warriors. That faces hockey all day on TBS and, at night, soccer on Fox and baseball on Fox Sports1.
5) MORE: A “Saturday Night Live” rerun (11:29 p.m., NBC) has Timothee Chalamet – fresh from his movie triumph as Bob Dylan – as host and music guest. Movies include James Cameron’s brilliant “Aliens” (1986) at 7 p.m. on FX and ”Babygirl” (2024) at 8 on HBO, with Nicole Kidman getting awards and nominations as a CEO in a hot affair with her intern.
