1) “Fire Country” season-finale, 9-11 p.m., CBS. Two new episodes conclude a strong season. At 9 p.m., a fire erupts at a gas station; Manny (shown here) and Bode jump into action. At 10, fierce winds push a wildfire toward the town and toward the care home where Walter Leone (the retired fire chief, who is Vince and Luke’s father and Bode’s grandfather) lives.
2) “NCIS: Sydney” season-finale, 8 p.m., CBS. The seasons have been short – eight episodes last year, 10 now – but the episodes have been well-made. Now the team races to find a Stinger missile. The show will be back next season, as will “Fire Country.”
3) “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” 8 p.m.. NBC. Recently demoted from Sundays to Fridays, this show is a mixed blessing. Stories about Birdie (whose biological son is a teen) and Patty (Alice’s mother-in-law) are soaked in soap-opera excess. But others — involving Catherine, who’s in real estate, and Brett, the garden-club manager – are quietly moving.
4) “Now Hear This,” 9 p.m., PBS. Sergei Rachmaninoff savored Russia, but never returned after revolutionaries took his home and money. He was 44 and started over – a master composer who focused on piano concerts to salvage his finances. Known for traditional music, he was a modernist at heart. It’s a fascinating story, rippling with splendid music.
5) MORE: The pro-football draft continues from 7-11:30 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN2. That faces the United Football League (8 p.m., Fox) and the playoffs for basketball and hockey. At 10, PBS has an “International Jazz Day” concert. The talking gets repetitious, but the music is great, closing with a mass performance of John Lennon’s “Imagine.”
