Best-bets for April 21: “Extracted” ends; “AMW” returns

1) “America’s Most Wanted” season-opener, 9:02 p.m., Fox. Back in 1988, Fox was a mini-network, airing only two nights a week. It debuted “AMW,” with John Walsh (whose son was kidnapped and killed) profiling suspects. The show was canceled after 23 years, then revived often. 2) “Extracted,” 8 p.m., Fox. Four people remain, struggling for survival while loved ones have the choice of extracting them. There’s a retired cop, a river guide, a loan officer and a wellness coach. Tonight, one will win $250,000.

3) “NCIS: Origins,” 10 p.m., CBS. A week from a riveting season-finale, this show has fresh crises. Wheeler, the unit chief, has trouble holding his job as his family struggles. And new events reflect the “Sandman” sniper in the series-opener. Now the team links with the FBI.

4) Mysteries, www.acorn.tv. Two shows offer interesting, movie-length tales. In the season-opener for New Zealand’s “Brokenwood Mysteries,” the fan of a fading rock band is found dead; suspects abound. In the season-finale of the British “Chelsea Detective,” kids pick the wrong car to steal: It’s the one with a scientist’s body in the trunk.

5) ALSO: From 8-10 p.m., there’s a live “American Idol,” revealing the top-14. And at10, PBS has an hour that fits the eve of Earth Day: “Water For Life” views three Latin Americans who fought government and corporate forces, to keep their local river water from being diverted.
