1) “Secrets of the Penguins” (shown here), 8-11 p.m., National Geographic. Here’s wildlife filmmaking at its finest – brimming with information and emotion. We see adult penguins from 4-foot-tall to 18 inches, from the Namib desert to the Antarctic ice. We see patience, anger and clever strategies, from herding anchovies to stealing fish out of the bill of a pelican.
2) “The Americas,” 8 p.m., NBC. After 10 gorgeous episodes, this steps back and offers a “making-of” hour. And the previous hours? You can catch the Mexico one at 7 p.m. today and all of them on Peacock or Hulu.
3) “Dark Winds,” 9 p.m., AMC, rerunning at 10:02 p.m. Last week’s bizarre episode ended with Joe near death in a distant canyon. Now Chee races that way. There’s pulsating energy at first, then a beautifully written monolog. Then, pointing to next week’s finale, we’re back to more crises — a relentless FBI agent and Joe’s ex-deputy, now a border guard eyeing a plot.
4) Easter. “Jesus: His Life” reruns from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on History. Turner Classic Movies starts a Biblical marathon at 6 a.m., then (at 8 p.m.) airs the “Easter Parade” musical. And BYU has the Tabernacle Choir performing Handel’s “Messiah” at 8 a.m. ET; there’s more music from the choir (11:30 a.m., 3 p.m.) and from “Grace Notes” (10:30 a.m., 5:05 p.m.).
5) More music: You can catch an Easter-night “The Sound of Music at 6:40 p.m. on Freeform, or at 6:01 and 10 p.m. on BYUtv. Also, CW profiles Dolly Parton at 7. (At 9, it has “Remarkable Women,” honoring women from 125 communities.) And at 8, ABC’s “American Idol” starts its live shows.
