2) “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” 8 p.m., NBC. This has switched nights (from Sundays), but its soap-style extremes make it tough for new viewers. Tonight brings the regional garden championship. We also flash ahead two months, to war between Alice’s husband and her gardening pal. “Grosse” is sometimes funny or moving and sometimes just too much.

3) “The Passion of the Christ” (2004), 8 and 10 p.m. ET, UPtv. This film – both popular and controversial – airs twice, with some of the more painful scenes deleted. It’s preceded by “The Ten Commandments” (1956) at noon and “The Greatest Story Ever Told” (1965) at 4 p.m. Also, the Movies digital channel has the “Jesus of Nazareth” mini-series, from noon to 8 ET.

4) “Now Hear This,” 9 p.m., PBS. Luigi Boccherini was a master cellist and composer, an Italian who savored Madrid. When his patron (the king’s brother) was banished to a country castle, Boccherini went along and wrote a piece celebrating the city. Now Scott Yoo and friends roam Madrid at night (mostly), hearing and playing gorgeous music.

5) ALSO: The final two spots in the pro basketball playoffs will be decided tonight, with games at 7:30 p.m. ET on TNT and 9:30 on ESPN. And movies? Steven Spielberg’s brilliant “Saving Private Ryan” (1998) is 6 p.m. on Showtime and 8 p.m. on MGM+. Another gem, Rob Reiner’s “Princess Bride” (1987) is 9 p.m. on BBC America.
