1) “Now Hear This” season-opener, 9 p.m., PBS. Tony Bennett didn’t really leave his heart in San Francisco, but Frederic Chopin literally left his in Warsaw. (After his death, his sister smuggled it back to a cathedral.) That’s one of many stories about a man who loved his homeland, but was away from it for half his lifetime. Host Scott Yee visits elegant settings in Poland and Paris (shown here), hearing great music.
2) “NCIS: Sydney” and “Fire Country,” 8 and 9 p.m., CBS. Both shows are two weeks from their season-finales. (They’ll be back next season.) In Sydney, a sailor has been killed and drained of blood. Then firefighters rush to a ski resort, where a chairlift malfunction has created a tragedy.
3) “SWAT,” 10 p.m., CBS. Unlike CBS’ other Friday shows, this will have new episodes through May 16, but won’t be back next year. Tonight, a Los Angeles Police Department psychologist is called in, after three officer are killed. This brings memories of a failed school shooting response.
4) “Titanic: The Digital Resurrection,” 9 p.m., National Geographic. Already a master of scripted films (“Titanic,” “Terminator,” “Avatar”), James Cameron has become a top documentary producer. Next weekend (April 20-22) is his annual Earth Day project, this time on penguins. First, here’s a digital re-creation of the Titanic, using underwater footage.
5) MORE: “Your Friends & Neighbors” has its first two episodes (of 10) on Apple TV+. Jon Hamm plays a fired hedge-fund manager, resorting to stealing from wealthy acquaintances. Also, “Great Performances” (10 p.m., PBS) focuses on Rudolf Nureyev and his triumphant “Swan Lake,” when he was 26 and Margot Fonteyn was 45.
