Best-bets for March 31: “Surf” wraps, “Idol” expands

1) “Rescue HI-Surf” season-finale, 9 p.m., Fox. On his daughter’s graduation day, Sonny confronts his friend Vince – who’s been dealing drugs from the lifeguard stand. 2) “American Idol,” 8-10 p.m., ABC. “Idol” slides into its twice-a-week mode, putting it head-to-head with NBC’s “The Voice.” That begins (today and Sunday) with “Hollywood Week,” including group performances.

3) “The Menopause Revolution,” 10 p.m., ABC. At 48, Oprah Winfrey says, “I thought I was dying.” She wasn’t; her heart palpitations were a sign of upcoming menopause. Now, at 71, she gathers experts and others, including actresses Halle Berry and Naomi Watts, comedian Leanne Morgan and journalist and women’s-health advocate Maria Shriver.

4) “NCIS: Origins,” 10 p.m., CBS. When a military sergeant is brutally killed in her car, Franks suspects the case is related to the attack on his estranged wife. That follows an “NCIS” in which a “girls night out” turns into an arson investigation.

5) “Luther,” www.acorn.tv. In its five seasons, this taut crime show has drawn 11 Emmy nominations, including four for its star (Idris Elba) and three for best movie or miniseries. Starting today, all 20 episodes stream on Acorn. Another gem: George Lucas’ “American Graffiti” (1973) is at 8 p.m. ET on Turner Classic Movies.
