The CW network will continue to keep Wednesdays as its oasis of new, scripted shows.
This spring, that will include the debut of “Sherlock & Daughter,” the return of “Children Ruin Everything” and the third season of “Sullivan’s Crossing” (shown here) … just five months after the second one ended.
Under its new ownership, the CW has gone with lower-budget shows. That includes wrestling on Tuesdays, true-crime on Thursdays, magic on Fridays (carried over from the previous owners) and movies or sports on weekends.
On Mondays, it has “All American” – the lone scripted show from the previous owners – and reruns of the second season of “Sullivan’s Crossing.”
That leaves Wednesdays as the focal point. The plan has:
— Currently: Two genial shows, each mixing quirky characters, occasional humor and crime-solving. “Wild Cards” (former con woman works with a cop) is at 8 p.m., with “Good Cop/Bad Cop” (siblings working for their dad, the police chief) at 9.
— April 9: “Good Cop/Bad Cop” closes its eight-episode first season.
— April 16: “Sherlock & Daughter” debuting at 9: After her mother’s murder, an American (Blu Hunt) feels that her father may be Sherlock Holmes (David Thewlis); they link to solve the murder and a broader conspiracy.
— April 30: “Wild Cards” concludes its second season.
— May 7: “Sullivan’s Crossing” starts its season at 8 p.m. – with things to settle. The previous one ended with a key romantic moment and then a seemingly lethal fire.
— June 18: After “Sherlock & Daughter” concludes, “Children Ruin Everything” returns to finish its fourth and final season. It’s a Canadian comedy that will have episodes at 9 and 9:30 p.m.
