1) “North by Northwest” (1959), 8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies. Post-Oscars, there are still good movies to try. This zesty Hitchcock adventure (shown here with Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint) is surrounded by the Marx Brothers’ “A Day at the Races” (1937) at 6 and “Lover Come Back” (1961) — an amiable Rock Hudson/Doris Day film with an Oscar-nominated script — at 10:30.
2) “Happy’s Place,” 8 p.m., NBC. At first, this seems like one of the show’s best episodes. There are clever bits with Emmett and Steve, plus a plot twist about a whiskey bottle. Then the final five minutes plunge into goofiness.
3) “Night Court” rerun, 8:30, NBC. Here’s a rerun of the fun episode that reunited Melissa Rauch a Mayim Bialik. “The Big Bang Theory,” already a terrific show, got even better when they arrived as Bernadette and Amy. Now Rauch stars as the judge; Bialik plays herself, a defendant, in a story that takes weird twists, then sort of makes sense.
4) “NCIS: Sydney,” 8 p.m., CBS. A frozen body leads the team into a probe of sex trafficking. That’s followed by “Fire Country” (a hoarder’s house turns dangerous) and “”SWAT,” with a rush to find museum thieves before they can get out of the country.
5) More movies. Kids might catch “Monsters, Inc.” (2001) at 8 p.m. on the Disney Channel or all three “Cars” films (2006, 2011, 2017) at 3:25, 6 and 8:30 on Freeform. At 8, others might try “Deadpool 2” (2018) on FX, “Top Gun: Maverick” (2023) on the Paramount Network or George Clooney’s “Descendants” (2011) on HBO.
