1) Academy Awards, 7-10:30 p.m. ET, ABC. The movies are obscure (except “Wicked,” shown here) and two Timothee Chalamet films), but the show will try to hold our attention. It has Conan O’Brien as host, Nick Offerman as announcer and top singers — Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Queen Latifah, Doja Cat, Raye, Lisa (of Blackpink) and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
2) Oscar previews. The E network starts its red-carpet coverage at 4 p.m. ET, with ABC taking over at 6:30. Also, E has an Academy Awards previews at 2 and Turner Classic Movies wraps its Oscar marathon with “Citizen Kane” at 11:45 a.m. ET; “Gone With the Wind,” 2 p.m.; “An American in Paris,” 6.
3) “The Americas,” 8 p.m., NBC. The American West has dizzying extremes. Temperatures, we’re told, range from 120 above to 60 below. We see great skill (a fox dives head-first into the snow to nab moles), family projects (by woodpeckers and by otters), masses of buffaloes and a spectacular convergence of sandhill cranes.
4) “Mayfair Witches” season-finale, 9 p.m., AMC. Lasher tried to shed his demonic roots, but he was brainwashed and thrust into a wedding and a conjugal bed. Now Rowan (his mom) may be helpless, as demon-seed offspring loom. Also, Cortland’s evil dad secretly inhabits his son’s body. It’s a busy and potent end to a well-crafted season.
5) MORE: The second “Suits LA” episode has some stark plot twists, in a coldly sleek world of lies and schemes. That’s 9 p.m. on NBC, followed by the quirky (and sorta fun) “Grosse Pointe Garden Society. Others also have new hours – “Tracker,” “Watson” and “Equalizer” on CBS, “Yellowjackets” at 8 on Showtime, “White Lotus” at 9 on HBO.
