Best-bets for March 1: new ‘SNL,’ old Luke memories

1) “I Am Luke Perry,” 8-10 p.m., CW. Perry’s roles ranged from bull-rider to vampire-hunter, but his biggest stretch (shown here) was as a rich kid in “Beverly Hills, 90210.” He was the opposite, a steelworker’s son who grew up in an Ohio town of 2,600. 2) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. The show’s 50-year celebration was seen by almost 15 million people live on NBC (roughly tripling the usual latenight total) and 4 million on Peacock. Now come the first new episodes since then. Tonight, Shane Gillis hosts and Tate McRae is the music guest, both for the second time. Next week, Lady Gaga does both.

3) “Asia,” 8 p.m., BBC America. The next episode of “The Americas” (a good one, at 8 p.m. Sunday on NBC) includes views of the Western U.S. deserts. Before that, catch this view of the driest parts of Asia, and the animals that survive. It’s preceded by an all-day marathon of nature films.

4) “FBI: International,” 8 p.m., CBS. This reruns the second episode with Wes (Jesse Lee Soffer, formerly of “Chicago P.D.”) in charge. Barely familiar with his people, he’s thrust into a kidnapping case in Netherlands. Also at 8, NBC’s “Hunting Party” reruns its second episode, which is repulsive in tone and copies too much of the first one.

5) Movies. On Oscars eve, you could watch best-picture winner “Bridge on the River Kwai” (1957) at 5 p.m. ET on Turner Classic Movies, and “Beauty and the Beast” (1991) – the first cartoon nominated for best picture – at 9 on Freeform. Then again, “Cutting Edge” (1992) is 7 ET on UpTV; Trevor raves about it on “Ghosts” and it’s a fairly fun movie.
