1) “Survivor” opener (shown here), 8-10 p.m., CBS. This network really likes fire folks. “Fire Country” is one of its top shows; Tom Westman (a firefighter, then 40) was one of its most skilled “Survivor” champions. Now the show has two firefighters, a captain, 45, and a lieutenant, 55. Others, on a Fiji island, range from a doctoral student, 24, to a surgeon, 46.
2) “Nova,” 9 p.m., PBS. It’s been almost a year since a Baltimore bridge collapsed, after a ship struck one of its piers. Six people were killed and shipping stopped for 11 weeks. This terrific film views the problems (ship size has quadrupled since the bridge was built) and solutions. It adds vivid glimpses of the workers in a four-year rebuilding project.
3) “Wild Cards,” 8 p.m., CW. In a variation on the “Rear Window” plot, Max is at home with a sprained ankle. Naturally, she spends her time spying on neighbors with binoculars … and maybe seeing a murder. That’s followed by a fairly good “Good Cop/Bad Cop”: As the police chief hosts a charity event, his offspring (also his detectives) probe a mysterious death.
4) “Abbott Elementary,” 8:30 p.m., ABC. After taking a week off, “Abbott” returns with the school celebrating the 100th day of its year; also, Barbara is surprised by her daughter. That follows a “Shifting Gears” and Matt’s feud with the neighboring business; this time, it involves a table in the alley.
5) MORE: The mid-section of “Eyes on the Prize III” (9-11 p.m., HBO) looks at the “Million Man March” in 1995. Then it steps back to view environmental activism, from 1982 to 2011. At 10 p.m., PBS’ “Secrets of the Dead” wraps its two-part look at a man who seemed to make a fortune from art work stolen from Jewish families by Nazis.
