2) St. Denis Medical,” 8 p.m., NBC. The trouble with having an emotional-support animal is that it might get loose. A cat, it turns out, is very hard to find in a hospital. It’s a funny episode, with some emotional moments as Serena turns glum on her birthday.

3) “Thomas Jefferson,” 8-10 p.m., History. Monday’s opener saw Jefferson grow up in comfort, then champion the revolution and write the Declaration of Independence. Now comes his low point: He struggles as a wartime governor of Virginia, rebounds as a diplomat in Paris. Widowed, he begins an affair with a teen who is enslaved.

4) “The Irrational,” 10 p.m., NBC. Here’s a rare miss for this oft-solid show. It includes an inept hit man, an odd choice of whom to suspect and an experiment that contributes nothing except to create a contrived dispute.

5) Changes, ABC: Now that “High Potential” has finished its season, it slides to 10 p.m. for a rerun. (Morgan usese her cleaning experience to crack a hotel-room murder.) “The Rookie” moves to 9 p.m.; it’s Celena’s last day as a rookie. “Will Trent” remains at 8; as a tropical storm hits Georgia, the team races to clear an innocent man
