Best-bets for Jan. 28: strong dramas in fiction and real life

1) “Great Migrations” opener, 9-10 p.m., PBS. For people facing cruelty in the South, this was alluring: The Chicago Defender and other Black newspapers urged them to move North. 2) “FBI: International,” 9 p.m., CBS. Six weeks ago, the show hit a crisis: Greg Csonka, who had killed Wes’ partner, broke free when a prison transfer vehicle was attacked. Wes and Vo caught up with him, but she was shot. Now (after a long wait) the chase is in Paris, while Vo’s life is in the balance and another member of the team is missing.

3) “FBI” and “FBI: Most Wanted,” 8 and 10 p.m., CBS. Like “International,” these are back after a winter shutdown. First, the FBI scrambles to stop hackers from endangering airliners; then “Most Wanted” probes fires linked to descendants of a 1985 bombing.

4) “Doc,” 9 p.m., Fox. Here’s a steeply emotional episode for the patients – an astronaut-trainee keeping secrets, an angry woman who seems headed to dementia – and for Amy. She finally learns details of her son’s death, in scenes that are both devastating and beautifully crafted.

5) “The Joe Schmo Show,” 9 p.m., TBS. The second episode, like the first, is quite funny. An innocent chap named Ben doesn’t realize he’s being punked by actors, in a pretend reality show. Unless, of course, it’s a double-punk, with Ben being an actor who’s fooling them. It’s fun either way.
