After a three-week pause for reruns, “Saturday Night Live” is back to having big-deal hosts for it 50th season.
It will be Dave Chappelle (shown here) on Jan. 18, with GloRilla as music guest. The next week, Timothee Chalamet does both functions. And on Feb. 16, the show has its 50-year special.
(Prior to that, the “SNL” rerun on Jan. 11 is hosted by John Mulaney, with Chappell Roan as music guest.)
Chappelle has only hosted three other times, but two were at key junctions – after Donald Trump was elected in 2016 and after he was defeated in 2020. Now he’ll arrive two days before Trump’s second inauguration.
Chalamet hosted in November of 2023, but let others (Boygenius) do the music. But he’s sung in two musicals, in the title role of “Wonka” and as Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown.” Now he has the option of singing as Willie Wonka or as Dylon or as Chalamet.
