2) “When Calls the Heart,” Hallmark. Now that the Christmas marathon has ended, Hallmark has its series season-openers. “The Way Home” arrived Friday; now it’s “Heart.” For little Jack Thornton, it’s the first day at the school named after his late father, where his mother has been the teacher.

3) “Mayfair Witches” season-opener, 9 p.m., AMC, IFC, BBC America and WeTV. Last season, Dr. Rowan Mayfair made a deal with the demon Lasher: He gave her all his powers; she gave him a human body. As he hurdles quickly to adulthood, the result is scary, intriguing and well-crafted.

4) “Vienna Blood” season-opener, 10 p.m., PBS. Next week, things get much better with the arrival of “Miss Scarlet” and “All Creatures Great and Small.” For now, we’re left with this grim tale, the first half of a two-parter. Max, a doctor who studied with Freud, works with Oskar, a police detective, to try to find who is leaking state secrets.

5) ALSO: From 6-8 p.m. ET, E has red-carpet coverage of the Golden Globes. ABC has two hours of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (the first one new) at 7 and 8, with “Toy Story 3” (2010) at 9. And the final day of pro football’s regular season is full of key games, peaking with the Vikings and Lions, at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
