Best-bets for Dec. 7: It’s conference championship time

1) Football conference championships. You can catch two huge ones today, back-to-back. At 4 p.m. ET on ABC, the SEC has Texas (ranked No. 2) and Georgia (No. 5). At 7, CBS has top-ranked Oregon (shown here) and Penn State (No. 3).

2) More football. At noon, ABC has the Big 12 – Arizona State (No. 15) and Iowa State (No. 16); ESPN has the Mid-American — Ohio and Miami of Ohio. At 2, ESPN2 has Southwestern — Southern and Jackson State. At 7:30, ESPN has Sun Belt — Marshall and Louisiana. And at 8, ABC has Atlantic Coast, with Clemson (No. 17) and Southern Methodist (No. 8).

3) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. After pausing for a couple weeks, “SNL” starts a string of three new episodes. Tonight, Paul Mescal, the “Gladiator II” star, hosts, with Shaboozey as music guest. The next two weeks are hosted by “SNL” alumni, Chris Rock and Martin Short.

4) “A Christmas Story” (1983) and “The Wizard of Oz” (1939), 8 and 10 p.m., TBS. Here are two classics, one great (“Oz”) and one very good (“Christmas Story,” which also airs at 12:18 a.m.)

5) More movies. New Christmas films are 8 p.m. on Hallmark and Lifetime, 8 p.m. ET on Great American Family and 9 on the Operah Winfrey Network, plus the new-to-most-of-us “California Christmas,” at 8 on CW. Beyond the holiday, “Crazy Rich Asians” is 7:30 p.m. on Comedy Central; “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” is 8 p.m. on HBO.
