1) “Grey’s Anatomy” (shown here), 9 p.m., ABC. After a quick start, this nears a long break; after tonight, it won’t return until March 6. Tonight’s hour (the season’s eighth) comes in a heat wave. Amelia and Winston try tough surgery; Jo and Lucas see an errand go awry.

2) “9-1-1” and “Doctor Odyssey,” 8 and 9 p.m., ABC. Here are two more shows that start a 14-week break, after their eighth episodes tonight. On “9-1-1,” there’s a massive pipe explosion; also, Athena helps a beating victim and Bobby has more trouble with the actor playing him on TV. On “Doctor Odyssey,” it’s Quaker Week plus a current trend in cruises – rubber duckies.

3) “Nugget is Dead? A Christmas Story,” 8-10 p.m., CBS. This takes patience. It gets off to so-so start and has lots of overlapping dialog with Australian accents. But stick with it and you’ll find a rich blend of humor and drama. Steph (Vic Zerbst, who co-wrote this) is planning to spend the holiday with her boyfriend’s wealthy family; then comes word that her family’s dog may be dying.

4) “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” 10 p.m., CBS. Here’s a quick rerun of the opener, which got the series off to a great start. Angry at her harping mom, Mandy insists on moving out; the new place ends up being much worse, in a funny, situation-comedy kind of way. That’s followed by a “Ghosts” from last February, in which we learned Sasappis can enter (and influence) dreams.

5) Movies: “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946) is on the USA Network at 8 and 11 p.m., five weeks before its Christmas Eve showing on NBC. Other great choices: “Top Gun: Maverick” (2022), 8 p.m., Paramount Network; “Airplane” (1980), 8 p.m., MGM+; and Jennifer Hudson’s Oscar-worthy work in “Respect” (2021), 9 p.m., BET.
