1) Country Music Association awards, 8-11 p.m., ABC. Luke Bryan and Lainey Wilson host and sing; Peyton Manning merely hosts. Post Malone links with Chris Stapleton for “California Sober,” Thomas Rhett with Teddy Swims for a mash-up. 2) “Nature: Attenborough’s Life Journey,” 8 p.m. PBS. As a programming executive at BBC, David Attenborough virtually invented nature telecasts. That was in 1954; he’s still doing them at 98. This film suffers from saccharine narration, but has great footage – from the past and present – and a splendid story, looking at 70 years of TV history.
3) “Secrets of the Dead,” 10 p.m., PBS. For the second straight week, this starts with treasure found in Laos. The find — 53 pounds of gold and silver artifacts – seems to date to the 8th century, just before the rise of the Khmer Empire. Scientists end up trekking a dirt road and then taking a grueling, two-day hike up a mountain considered sacred.
4) “The Masked Singer,” 8 p.m., Fox. It’s a night of Miley Cyrus music, starting with Group C contestants singing “Party in the USA.” Ousted last week was Bethany Hamilton, who remains a successful surfer, 20 years after losing an arm in a shark attack.
5) “Chicago Med,” 8 p.m., NBC. Charles, the hospital’s psychiatrist, argues with his former resident, Sarah Reese. That’s followed by “Chicago Fire” (preparing for officer exams) and “Chicago P.D.” (Torres’ secret is revealed).
