1) “Landman,” 9:09 p.m., Paramount Network. Talented writer-producer Taylor Sheridan launches a series about Texas oilmen, starring Billy Bob Thornton (shown here with Ali Larter) and Jon Hamm. That follows Sheridan’s-”Yellowstone”: Last week’s episode reruns at 6:45 p.m., with the murder of Gov. Dutton disguised as a suicide; on a new one at 8, the investigation begins.
2) “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” (2023), 8-11 p.m., ABC. This film never got the love (or the money) it deserves. In the Indy tradition, it has dazzling action scenes and smart dialog. Harrison Ford, now 82, still makes a strong action hero, this time with a computer de-aging him for the flashbacks. Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays his estranged goddaughter.
3) “The Wizard of Oz” (1939), 11:33 a.m., TBS. By switching channels, you can catch two of the all-time greats: There’s “Oz” (at a family-friendly time) on TBS and the “Grinch” cartoon at 6:30 on TNT. Other good seasonal films: “Last Christmas” (3:33 p.m., TBS), “The Holiday” (7 p.m., CW), “Christmas Vacation” (7 p.m., TNT) and “Elf” (8 and 10 p.m., TBS).
4) “The Equalizer,” 9 p.m., CBS. After being bumped last week, the show is back for only its fourth episode this season. Robyn tries to rescue a young hacker who reminds Harry of his old days. Also, Dante is back in town,.
5) “The Saints,” Fox Nation. Martin Scorsese has given us great villains, but now he turns to history’s heroes. He produced and narrates eight weekly docudramas covering almost 2,000 year, from Mary Magdalene to Holocaust martyr Maximilian Kolbe. That stars with French-Irish actress Liah O’Prey as Joan of Arc. Scorsese hosts a panel discussion afterward.
