2) “The Daily Show,” 11 p.m., Comedy Central. There’s a good chance the election won’t be settled by then. (Last time, a winner was finally declared on Saturday.) But Jon Stewart and others will look for humor with this live hour, titled:“Indecision 2024: Nothing We Can Do About it Now.”

3) Election alternatives I. If you want to skip coverage, you could go to a streamer. For recent, lighter fair, try the full seasons of Netflix’s “The Lincoln Lawyer,” Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” and Disney+’s “Agatha All Along,” or the ongoing season of Apple’s “Shrinking.” For serious crises, try Netflix’s “The Diplomat” or Paramount+’s ongoing “Lioness.”

4) Election alternatives II: Then there are the cable films. Freeform has the classic “Mary Poppins” (1964) at 5 p.m. and its sequel (2018) at 8. AMC has “Ocean’s Eleven” (2001) at 5:15 and “Cast Away” (2000) at 8. FX has Thor movies at 2:30 (2011), 5 (2013) and 7:30 p.m. (2022).

5) “American Sports Story,” 10 p.m., FX, rerunning at 11:03. In the second-to-last episode, it’s time for football star Aaron Hernandez to face his murder trial. This episode focuses on Shayenna Jenkins, who shared his home with him and their baby girl. Jaylen Barron gives a subtle and deeply moving performance, as someone torn between awful choices.
