1) Election, Tuesday. It’s finally time to end the voting and start counting. Coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET on PBS; 7 on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox; and 8 on CW, plus earlier on news channels. This takes patience; last time, it wasn’t final until Saturday. But at 11 p.m. on Comedy Central, Jon Stewart (shown here) has a live hour: “Indecision 2024: Nothing We Can Do About it Now.”
2) Elections alternatives. You could go to streamers (for fun, maybe Netflix’s “The Lincoln Lawyer” or Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building”) or cable. Freeform has “Mary Poppins” at 5 p.m. and its sequel at 8; AMC has “Ocean’s Eleven” at 5:15 and “Cast Away” at 8. At 10, FX continues its mini-series about the downfall of football’s Aaron Hernandez.
3) “Yellowstone” return, 8 p.m. Sunday, Paramount Network; 10 p.m., CBS. After a 22-month break, Kevin Costner’s series is finally back for the last six episodes of its fifth and final season. First, we can catch up via the Paramount Network The third and fourth seasons rerun Friday (11 p.m. to 4 a.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m. to 2 a.m.). The fifth is Sunday, 10 a,m. to 8 p.m.
4) “SNL Election Special,” 10 p.m. Monday, NBC. For 50 years, “Saturday Night Live” has satirized politics. It’s had candidates (Al Gore, Donald Trump, George McGovern, Sarah Palin, John McCain) and sketches — a bumbling Gerald Ford, baffled Joe Biden, bewildered Donald Trump. Now, on election eve, it offers some of the past highlights.
5) “The Masked Singer,” 8 p.m. Wednesday, Fox. After pausing for baseball and the election, Fox can return to its line-up, including its top show. So far, this edition has ousted one singer (Paula Cole) and five others – John Elway, Andy Richter, Laverne Cox, Marsai Martin and Yvette Nicole Brown. Now it opens a ‘60s night with the Beach Boys’ “Fun, Fun, Fun.”
6) “San Diego: America’s Wildest City,” 8 p.m. Wednesday, PBS. Wedged between ocean and desert, San Diego is the most bio-diverse spot in the continental U.S. We see grebes seemingly walking (or dancing) on water and grunions in a two-hour shore orgy. Humans’ touches draw raccoons and bobcats at night, hummingbirds (stalked by roadrunners) by day.
7) “Matlock,” 9 p.m. Thursday, CBS. The main story – a suit filed by female prisoners – is tangled and the story gets iffy. But alongside that, Matty manages to nudge a romance and to get the thumbprint she needs. It’s a fairly clever tale, as is the “Elsbeth” that follows: Vanessa Williams plays a haughty jewelry-store customer, enacting revenge when snubbed.
8) “Grey’s Anatomy,” 10 p.m. Thursday, ABC. After some Halloween reruns last week, ABC’s Thursday is back. On “Grey’s,” Mika overloads her work, after taking time off to be with her sister; Levi faces a huge decision and Teddy and Owen see their “date night” derailed. That’s preceded by “Doctor “Odyssey,” with a rich family buying a wedding cruise.
9) “Joan” finale, 9 p.m. Friday, CW. Based on a true story, this saw Joan (skillfully played by Sophie Turner) go from helpless teen mom to master thief. Facing prison time, she now plans to have a major heist and flee. It’s a solid hour, in a week when the election scrambles CW’s line-up: Wrestling moves to Wednesday, “Inside the NFL” to 8 p.m. Friday.
10) “Salute to Service,” 9 p.m. Friday, PBS. Three days before Veterans Day, Mickey Guyton hosts a tribute, with vignettes and music. Craig Morgan – a nine-year Army Airborne soldier and now a reservist – performs “Soldier” and “That’s What I Love About Sundays.” Military ensembles back bassist Christian McBride and singer-trombonist Aubrey Logan.
