Best-bets for Nov. 2: Mulaney on “SNL”; country stars at fundraiser

1) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. John Mulaney (shown here) hosts “SNL,” which is his home turf. He was a writer there for five years, co-creating the Stefon character. Since then, he’s hosted five times (plus five uncredited visits). Chappell Roan has her first time as music guest; her “Midwest Princess” album was No. 2 on the Billboard chart.

2) “United Way Benefit for Hurricane Relief,” 8 p.m., CBS and CMT. In a late addition, here’s a fundraiser for victims of hurricanes Helene and Milton. It includes music from Carly Pearce, Chris Janson, Clay Aiken, Brittney Spencer, Jonathan Reynolds and Tyler Hubbard, plus messages from others.

3) “Reagan: Portrait of a Presidency,” 8-10 p.m., CW. Now that it has back-to-back movie nights (Saturdays and Sundays), CW can do coordinated things. This weekend, it traces two relatively peaceful times – the Ronald Reagan years tonight (narrated by Dean Cain) and the Bill Clinton ones on Sunday (narrated by Blair Underwood).

4) Football. Today’s big game comes early: At noon ET, Ohio State and Penn State – ranked No. 4 and 3 nationally – collide. There’s much more, including 7:30 games with Wisconsin and Iowa (NBC), Texas A&M and South Carolina (ABC) and :Louisville and Clemson (ESPN).

5) ALSO: At 9 p.m., CBS reruns the “Tracker” season-opener. A fairly good story of a missing family was rushed to make room for some ongoing issues. The brilliant “Knives Out” is 6 and 9 p.m. on VH1. And the animated gem “Coco” is traversing the TV universe – Friday on Freeform, 8 p.m. today on the Disney Channel, 8 p.m. Sunday on ABC
