1) “Coco” (2017), 8:30 p.m., Freeform. A Mexican tradition has Nov. 1 as “Day of the Dead,” a time to think of departed ancestors. So it’s logical that today Freeform airs this gem, with a boy entering the Land of the Dead (shown here). Freeform will show it Saturday and ABC will have its turn Sunday. The film won Oscars for best song (“Remember Me”) and best animated feature.
2) “Happy’s Place,” 8 p.m.,, NBC. Like previous episodes, this is wildly uneven. It has noisy-but-empty moments, including the first few minutes. It has warm moments that feel forced; three characters separately invoke old memories. But it also has drolly clever bits from the cook (Rex Linn), the handyman (Tokala Black Elk) and the boss (Reba McEntire).
3) “SWAT,” 8 p.m., CBS. A prison hostage situation gets worse when a bomb releases the maximum-security inmates – including one who wants revenge on Hondo. That’s followed by “Fire Country,” as Bode and Gabriela consider revealing their secret.
4) “Blue Bloods,” 10 p.m., CBS. The late Paul Sorvino played lots of crooks and cops; now his daughter (Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino) plays the new fire commissioner. Like the police commissioner (Frank, played by Tom Selleck), she’s a strong-willed sort, giving the mayor two antagonists.
5) ALSO: At 9 p.m., PBS’ “Great Performances” has a backstage look at “Girls of the Golden West,” set during the Gold Rush. Also at 9, CW has “Joan”; setting up next week’s finale, Joan faces a prison sentence and the wrath of the IRA. And at 8:08 p.m. ET, Fox has (if needed) the sixth World Series game, now back in Dodger Stadium.
