1) “Elsbeth,” 10 p.m., CBS. Mac wakes up on Halloween-with a haircut, a hangover, a tattoo, an arrest and a foggy notion (a nightmare? a memory?) that she shot someone. She’s a former child star, beautiful and clueless; now Elsbeth (in Halloween costume) investigates. Brittany O’Grady (center) is terrific as Mac, in an hour that’s clever and fun.
2) “Ghosts,” 8:30 p.m., CBS. Life has changed since Patience, a stern Salem type, arrived. Last week, she scrawled “sin” in blood; now she wants Sam to face a witch trial on Halloween. That follows “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” at 8 and leads into an excellent “Matlock” at 9.
3) More Halloween. In the daytime, CBS has holiday editions of “Let’s Make a Deal,” “The Price is Right” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.” At night, ABC reruns its “Press Your Luck” holiday hour at 8 and the Halloween Week hour of “Doctor Odyssey” at 10. In between is the Singles Week episode of “Odyssey” at 9.
4) “Hell’s Kitchen,” 8 p.m., Fox. The network had to set much of this week aside for possible World Series games, but tonight is an exception. First, chefs try a pasta challenge and a dinner service. Then “Crime Scene Kitchen” has a surprise clue that causes half the duos to switch plans.
5) MORE: For Halloween-lite, there’s all day on Freeform (including the “Hocus Pocus” films, at 6:20 and 8:35 p.m.) or PBS Kids; there’s also “Halloweentown,” at 6:25 p.m. on the Disney Channel. For the serious stuff, AMC has “Halloween” films all day, including the well-crafted original at 7 p.m. and its sequel at 9.
