1) World Series, 8:08 p.m. ET, Fox; pre-game at 7. After two games in Dodger Stadium, the games move to Yankee Stadium, a familiar spot. The Yankees (shown here) are in their league-leading 41st Series, with 27 championships; the Dodgers are in their 22nd, , with seven. This continues Tuesday and, if needed, Wednesday and (in Los Angeles) Friday and Saturday.
2) “What We Do in the Shadows,” 10 p.m., FX; repeats at 10:36, 11:12. In its final season, this show continues its droll dialog, but has bigger and wilder plots. Now most of the vampires are working for an evil corporation, where Guillermo is the ideal executive. Also, there’s an elaborate scheme to make a neighbor think he has a job interview with a railroad.
3) “Lioness” season-opener, 8 and 8:45 p.m., Showtime. Writer-director Taylor Sheridan keeps keeps delivering tough, taut shows for Paramount+ and related networks. CBS had “Tulsa King” this summer and has the return of “Yellowstone” Nov. 10. And here’s the second-season opener, with Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana preparing a new female operative.
4) “Poppa’s House,” 8:30 p.m., CBS. Poppa (Damon Wayans) finds that his nemesis at work (Essence Atkins) is coming to dinner. That brings lots of arch dialog, none of it similar to real human conversation. Try to skip this and wait for “NCIS” and “NCIS: Origins,” at 9 and 10.
5) “Whitstable Pearl,” www.acorn.tv. The local psychic fair is supposed to be just for fun. But when a young girl goes missing, one psychic claims she can find her. The result is a smart and sometimes heart-rending mystery.
