1) “Elsbeth,” 10 p.m. Thursday, CBS. Mac (Brittany O’Grady, center, who’s terrific) is a former child star, gorgeous and clueless. She wakes up on Halloween-with a haircut, a hangover, a tattoo, an arrest and a nightmare (or maybe a memory) involving shooting someone. Elsbeth (in cocktail-hour costume) investigates, in an hour that’s bright, funny and well-plotted.
2) “Abbott Elementary,” 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, ABC. Each year, ABC has Halloween episodes for all its comedies. That continues now, with a catch: The network only has one comedy, At the school’s party, Janine and Gregory have a couple’s costume that doesn’t click. Also, parents question the hygiene of Barbara’s holiday favorite – bobbing-for-apples.
3) More Halloween. There are plenty of other holiday episodes. On Tuesday, it’s ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” In Thursday daytime, CBS’ has “Let’s Make a Deal,” “The Price is Right” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.” On Thursday, nightCBS has a new “Ghost” at 8:30 p.m.; ABC has reruns of “Press Your Luck” and “Doctor Odyssey,” at 8 and 10 p.m..
4) “The Simpsons,” 8 p.m., Sunday, Fox. “Treehouse of Horror” usually airs on thr Sunday before Halloween, with three weirdly funny tales. This year, that was delayed because of the outside chance there would be a World Series game that day. Now it arrives Nov. 3, including a tale in which the collective political hate creates a monster that invades the town.
5) World Series, 8:08 p.m. ET today, Fox, pre-game at 7. After two games in Dodger Stadium, this finds familiar turf — Yankee Stadium. The Yankees are in their league-leading 41st Series; the Dodgers are in their 22nd. The Yanks have 27 championships, the Dodgers have 7. Games continue Tuesday and, if needed, Wednesday and (in Los Angeles) Friday and Saturday..
6) “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” debut, 8 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Disney Channel. Tuesday is a double day for Selena Gomez. Her delightful “Only Murders in the Building” concludes on Hulu; also, she guests in this sequel to her old series. Alex (Gomez) hopes her brother will train a powerful and mischievous young wizard.
7) “Nature,” 8 p.m. Wednesday, PBS. This visit to Romania is entitled “Dracula’s Hidden Kingdom,” but that angle is quickly set aside. We get gorgeous wildlife scenery, in a country that has half of Europe’s brown bears and a replenished stock of beavers and bison. Even storks go out of their way to give birth and raise their young on Romanian rooftops.
8) “Martha,” Wednesday, Netflix. At 83, Martha Stewart remains big in pop culture and retail culture. She’s had TV series, hosted “The Apprentice,” even spent five months in prison. She’s had a busy life that she relates here. Another documentary (9 p.m. Friday, National Geographic) tells of survivors of a ship stranded in Antarctica in 1915 – and finds the ship.
9) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m. Saturday, NBC. John Mulaney returns to “SNL,” which is almost his home. He was a writer there for five years, co-creating the Stefon character. Now this is his sixth time as host (plus five uncredited visits). Chappell Roan has her first turn as music guest; her “Midwest Princess” album was No. 2 on the Billboard chart.
10) “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” finale, 9 p.m. Sunday,, AMC. Last week ended with a fresh jolt: Ash’s plane can only take two other people; someone (Daryl or Carol or Laurent) must stay. This finale has two high-octane scenes – one early, one late – and lots of quietly moving ones. It has a strong ending that still propels us toward the next season.
