2) “Brilliant Minds” debut, 10 p.m., NBC. Oliver Sacks was a gifted neurologist who offered bold theories about the human mind. He also was a weightlifter, swimmer and motorcyclist. Robin Williams played him in “Awakenings”; now Zachary Quinto (shown here) is a slightly fictionalized Dr. Oliver Wolf. This feels exaggerated, but has great emotional impact.

3) “9-1-1: Lone Star,” 8 p.m., Fox. When most shows rushed back to do a strike-shortened season this spring, two Fox ones skipped that and focused on fall. “Accused” will start Oct. 1; “Lone Star” starts now, with multiple crises: Carlos (now a Texas Ranger) probes an armored car robbery; the team rushes to a train derailment.

4) “Rescue: HI-Surf,” 9 p.m., Fox. Like the series opener (which aired Sunday), this episode falls short. The Hawaiian settings are great, the rescues are OK, but the rest is bland. In particular, the three young men offer nothing beyond their admirable torsos.

5) Football. The next couple weeks will have two Monday-night pro games. Today, the Bills (2-0) host the Jaguars (0-2), at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN; the Bengals (0-2) host the Commodores (1-1), at 8:15 on ABC.
