1) “America’s Got Talent,” 8-10 p.m., NBC. The 10 finalists perform; then viewers vote … and wait a week to learn who won. The choices include two singers (including Dee Dee Simon, shown here), a comedian and a magician, plus a dance group, an acrobatic group, an aerial duo, a drone duo, a dog act and an “air dance” group. They’re from Japan, Australia, Spain, Portugal, Tanzania and the U.S.
2) “Dancing With the Stars” opener, 8-10 p.m., ABC. While “Talent” wraps its 19th season, this show starts its 34th. It has four athletes, four actors (including Tori Spelling), two “Bachelor” folks (Joey Graziadei and Jenn Tran) and three others, including Anna Sorokin (alias Anna Delvey), on parole after convictions for fraud while claiming to be an heiress.
3) “American Masters,” 9-11 p.m., PBS. At 10, Julia Alvarez fled with her family, after a failed overthrow of the Dominican Republic dictator. She went from prosperity and sunshine to tough times in New York; 30 years later, that became a novel that brought steep praise from readers and discord in her family. Here’s a terrific profile of Alvarez, then and now.
4) “High Potential” debut, 10 p.m., ABC. This is the first new show of the season (cartoons excluded) on a commercial broadcast network. Kaitlin Olson (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) plays a single mother of three; as a cleaning lady, she gets little chance to use her genius IQ … until she starts helping police solve crimes.
5) “Stopping the Steal,” 9 p.m., HBO, rerunning at 11:28. Interviewing White House insiders, this details efforts to disrupt the election results on Jan. 6, 2021. That’s surrounded by “Deadpool” (2016) at 7:10 p.m. and a rerun of Monday’s episode of the acclaimed “My Brilliant Friend,” at 10:32.
