1) “Have I Got News For You” debut, 9 p.m. ET, CNN. This has been big in England – even winning best-comedy awards – for 34 years. It’s a quiz about the news, hoping for witty replies. To nudge that along, several comedians will be there: Roy Wood Jr. hosts, with Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black (shown here) as team captains.
2) Football overload. This is one of those nights when college games are on all five broadcast networks, plus some cable ones. There are 7:30 p.m. ET games on ABC (top-ranked Georgia at Kentucky), CBS, NBC and Fox, plus 6:30 on CW. At 7, ESPN has second-ranked Texas hosting Texas-San Antonio.
3) More football. Things start at noon with Alabama (No. 4) at Wisconsin, on Fox. It’s aso a day for rivalries – Oregon (No. 9) at Oregon State, Colorado at Colorado State, 7:30 p.m. on CBS.
4) Harrison Ford films. The original Indiana Jones trilogy is on the Paramount Network, at 4:05, 6:35 and 9:05 p.m. Or you can catch “The Fugitive” (1993), at 6:30 p.m. or 12:30 a.m. on Sundance. Both mix Ford with great directors – Steven Spielberg and Andrew Davis.
5) More movies. This is a night for all the top male stars. Tom Cruise has “Mission Impossible” films at 5 p.m. (2011) and 8 p.m. (2018). Brad Pitt and George Clooney have “Ocean’s Eleven: at 5 on TNT. Tom Hanks’ “Forrest Gump” is at 10 on AMC.
