1) Football. The first full day of the college season is Saturday, but lots of teams are starting early, including three at 8 p.m. ET on national TV. Fox has North Carolina (shown here), 8-5 last season, and Minnesota, 6-7 … ESPN has Colorado, with the father-son Sanders duo, and North Dakota State … CBS Sports Network has Coastal Carolina and Jacksonville State.
2) “Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power,: Amazon Prime. Some 22 months after the first season ended, this epic prequel finally returns. It has three episodes today, with the other five arriving weekly.
3) “Ghosts,” 9:30 p.m., CBS. This reruns this year’s Halloween tale – which may be the funniest “Ghosts” so far. It concocts a situation in which Sam thinks a guest is still alive; others see her talking to a blank space. That follows a clever “Young Sheldon” that goes all the way back to the post-nado season-opener.
4) “Lucky 13,” 9 p.m., ABC. Making up for time lost to the Democratic convention, this is the quiz show’s second new hour this week. It follows a new “Press Your Luck”; at 10 p.m., Kelly and Jack Osbourne are included in a rerun of “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?”
5) Movies. You can choose your Transformers film at 7 p.m.: The original (2007) is on AMC; a sequel (2009) is on Syfy. The sleek “Ocean’s 8” (2009) is 8 p.m. on USA. And family films? “Princess Diaries” tales (2001, 2004) are 6 and 8:30 p.m. on Freeform; a gorgeous “Cinderella” (2015) is at 8 on the Disney Channel.
