Best-bets for Aug. 19: almost time to pick a president and a suitor

2) “The Bachelorette,” 8-10 p.m., ABC. Down to her final four, Jenn Tran visits their home towns. She’s 26 and becoming a physician’s assistant. The guys are: Marcus Shoberg, 32, former Army Ranger; Jeremy Simon, 29, real-estate investor; Jonathan Jackson, 27, creative director; Devin Strater, 28, freight-company owner.

3) More shows, 8-10 p.m. New episodes are on NBC (“American Ninja Warrior”), CW (“All American: Homecoming” and “61st Street) and Fox (“Name That Tune” and the clever “1% Club.” Also, CBS reruns “NCIS” and the second “NCIS: Sydney” episode.

4) Movies. People determined to skip the convention can go with long movies. FX’s “Bullet Train” (2022) and Freeform’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021) are 8-11 p.m.; the Paramount Network’s “Forrest Gump” (1994) is 8-11:30;

5) Streaming surge. Beginning today, Netflix viewers have a trove of shows from the AMC cable channel. Some are high-profile — one season of “Interview Wtith the Vampire” and “Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” eight of “Fear the Walking Dead.” Others are not (“Monsieur Spade,” “Dark Winds”), but most are beautifully crafted.
