1) “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” 8 p.m., Disney Channel, repeating at 9:45. At first, this seems like it will be wonderful. There’s a vibrant musical chase scene with Red (Kylie Cantrall), then a potent song by her evil mom (Rita Ora, shown here). After that, this settles for being OK, with a time-travel plot, uptempo songs and a so-so ending.
2) Olympics. Women’s beach volleyball concludes, with the bronze-medal match at 3 p.m. ET on the USA Network and gold-medal at 4:30 on NBC. Other medals are in boxing (7:45-8:30 a.m., USA) and. on NBC, women’s diving (9 a.m.), track-and-field (1:30-4 p.m.) and rhythmic gymnastics (4). Then the recap is 8-11 p.m.
3) “13 Days in Ferguson,” 10 p.m. , CBS. Ten years ago today, an unarmed Black teen was killed in Ferguson, Mo., spurring national protests For Cedric the Entertainer, it was personal. He grew up near Ferguson and his longtime friend, a state policeman, tried to defuse the crisis. Now the friends revisit the site.
4) “SWAT,” 9 p.m., CBS. Before that look at the real-life Ferguson shooting, CBS has a rerun in which Hondo is involved in a shooting. Also, eco-terrorists kidnap the son of an energy-company executive.
5) Turner Classic Movies. The focus is on the intense and talented Montgomery Clift. That also adds fresh looks ar Elizabeth Taylor (featured in a current HBO/Max documentary). The two are together in “Suddenly, Last Summer” (1960), 9:30 a.m. ET; “Raintree County” (1957), 5 p.m.; and “A Place in the Sun” (1951), 8.
