Best-bets for Aug. 8: Olympics, umbrellas and Georgie

1) “Young Sheldon,” 9 p.m., CBS. A terrific rerun juggles two stories: Sheldon’s paper gets national attention, sparking a flurry of college recruiters. Also, his brother Georgie (shown here) tries to speak properly in front of the baby. That’s followed by a good “Ghost,” with someone claiming to be the real heiress to the manor.

2) Olympics. It’s another busy day for track-and-field. That’s 4-7 a.m. ET on the USA Network, 9-10 a.m. on NBC and then lots of finals, 1:35-4 p.m. on NBC. Also: women’s diving, 9-10 a.m., NBC; boxing finals, 10 a.m., USA; and more, with the recap from 8-11 p.m., NBC.

3) “The Umbrella Academy,” Netflix. As we head into the final Olympic weekend, streamers are piling up the alternatives. This is the six-episode finale, starting with the team devoid of super powers. Also today: Stephen Curry’s quirky “Mr. Throwback” (Peacock) and the Spanish “Mallorca Files” (Amazon Prime).

4) “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” season-finale, 8 amd 9 p.m., Fox. Yes, some summer shows are already concluding. Fox’s “Food Stars” has ended; now “Lyrics” ends with Niecy Nash introducing a former Junior Olympics champion and a singing doctor.

5) ALSO: There’s fairy-tale fun on two channels. At 8 p.m., Disney Channel reruns “Descendants 3” (2019), a movie-musical; the fourth film has its cable debut Friday. Freeform has Amy Adams’ delightful “Enchanted” (2007) at 6, with “Disenchanted” (2022) at 8:30.
