1) “Grantchester” season-finale, 9 p.m., PBS. The entire season has pointed toward this hour. Will Alphy (shown here) lose his vicarage? Will Leonard lose his lover? Will a charismatic stranger ruin lives? All of that (plus a murder) converges. The solutions come too easily, but richly drawn characters make up for flimsy plots.
2) Olympics. It’s a packed day, with finals in individual gymnastics (9-11:10 a.m. ET, NBC), track (1 p.m., USA; also, 12:30, NBC, alternating with swimming), beach volleyball (10:15 a.m. USA, 4 p.m. NBC) and U.S. women’s basketball (11 a.m., USA). There’s more, with NBC recapping from 7-11 p.m.
3) “Stellar Awards,” 8-10:30 p.m., BET. Rickey Smiley and Loni Love host gospel’s greats. Up for artist of the year are Donald Lawrence, Erica Campbell, Pastor Mike Jr. and Tye Tribbett. The latter two are up for best album, with Rickey Dillard and Johathan McReynolds. There are awards for traditional, contemporary and hip-hop.
4) Julie Andrews marathon, Turner Classic Movies. Here are 10 Andrews films, six directed by her husband Blake Edwards (who is the subject of a terrific PBS profile Aug. 27). Only one is a full musical – the giddy “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” at 5:15. But “Victor/Victoria,” at 8, is an excellent comedy-drama with music.
5) “House of the Dragon,” 9 p.m., HBO. This season-finale reruns at 10:13, 12:05 and 2. It collides with “Grantchester” and the AMC dramas. At 9, “Snowpiercer” spends too much time with the usually steady Layton in a rage. At 10, “Orphan Black: Echoes” has a morose hour, salvaged by the skill of Keeley Hawes and others.
