One of the summer’s underappreciated gems will begin streaming soon.
“The Fall Guy” (shown here) is one of the rare movies that has it all – action, humor, a clever plot and the sort of romance that crackles with sharp dialog. It’s drew moderately favorable reviews and made $177 million worldwide … not nearly enough for a film that reportedly cost close to $150 million.
Now it gets a second chance to draw attention, reaching Peacock on Aug. 30.
The movie is based on the old “Fall Guy” TV series, only in two ways – it’s about a stuntman and it’s called “The Fall Guy.”
In this case, that’s Ryan Gosling, with Emily Blunt as his ex-lover and current director. The stunts are spectacular … and there might be more to see. Peacock will have two versions – the one in theaters (two hours, six minutes) and one with an extra 20 minutes.
For Peacock, such additions are important. With some exceptions (including the delightful “Poker Face”), it’s had trouble attracting viewers with original fare. But it has the advantage of including its corporate partners – NBC (especially with the Olympics) and Universal Pictures. Tha hass brought Oscar-winner “Oppeheimer,” the latest “Trolls” and “Kung Fu Panda” cartoons … and, soon, “Fall Guy.”
Good news: “Fall Guy” will stream soon
