1) “Big Brother” opener, 9 p.m., CBS. When “BB” (shown here in a previous year) began, strangers were in what seemed like a high-tech house, filled with cameras. But technology has expanded since then; ths edition is billed as “BB:AI.” Julie Chen Moonves hosts, episodes are also at 9 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays.
2) More reality. Two other networks collide with CBS’ “Big Brother” Fox has tasks that are dear to Gordon Ramsay – feeding soccer players on “MasterChef” (8 p.m.) and taking over one of his restaurants (9). ABC has “Claim to Fame” at 9; at 8, Rosie O’Donnell and Lisa Ann Waler are on “Celebrity Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?”
3) Republican convention. On the convention’s second-to-last day, coverage expands slightly. Plans (subject to change) call for PBS to start at 8 p.m. ET, NBC at 9 and ABC and CBS at 10, with news channels there any time.
4) Micro-movies, 8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies. Before they made Oscar-winning epics, many directors made cheapies for Roger Corman. Here are Martin Scorsese’s “Boxcar Bertha” (8), Peter Bogdanovich’s “ Targets” (9:45), Francis Coppola’s “Dementia 13” (11:30), Jonathan Demme’s “Caged Heat” (1 a,,m) and Joe Dante’s ”Piranha” (2:30).
5) More films. Two masterful movies won best-song Oscars. At 6:30 p.m.,, Freeform has “The Lion King” (1994), which had three song nominations, winning for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” At 6:41, HBO has “A Star” is Born,” which won for “Shallow” and was nominated for best-picture.
