1) “A Capitol Fourth,” 8 p.m., PBS; repeats, 9:30-11. Each year, this offers a zesty blend of music, followed by fireworks (shown here). This time, the music is from Motown great Smokey Robinson and Broadway’s Fantasi aand, Darren Criss, p;lus Loren Allred, Chloe Flower, Sheila E, Sister Sledge and Fitz & Noelle fom Fitz and the Tantrums.
2) “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks,” 8-10 p.m., NBC, with highlights 10-11. A 25-minute fireworks show is planned, backed by songs from Mickey Guyton (who co-hosts) Brandy Clark and Amber Mark. There’s more music, including Lainey Wilson, Luis Fonsi, Tanner Adell and The War and Treaty.
3) More music, AXS. This digital channel has a full day of country-music concerts and profiles, capped by Willie Nelson at 4:30 p.m. ET and the late Toby Keith at 6:30. Also: Alan Jackson, 8 a.m.; Shania Twain,. 10; Lady A, noon; Tim McGraw, 1 p.m.; Blackberry Smoke, 2; Zac Brown Band, 3:30.
4) Alfonso Riberio night. Tonight, Ribeiro fills two channels. He hosts PBS’ “Capitol Fourth” and ABC’s “America’s Funniest Home Videos” … which reruns the season’s first three episodes, from 8-11 p.m.
5) Movies. It’s logical that Freeform has “Independence Day” at 7:50 p.m. on Independence Day. And that Turner Classic Movies has musicals — “1776” (1972) at 11:45 a.m., ET, “Music Man” (1962) at 2:45, “Yankee Doodle Dandy” (1942) at 5:30. But at 8 (when “YDD” moves to the Movies channel, TCM has the brilliantlly acted “On the Waterfront” (1954).
