1) “Hope in the Water,” 9 p.m., PBS. At an Asian market, we’re told, you might find 35 kinds of fish. Most Americans, however, focus on three – tuna, salmon and shrimp; others are caught here and exported. This hour views ways to stir interest in the others. Shailene Woodley (shown here), the “Divergent” star, sees people turn sea urchins into a delicacy.
2) “Dynamic Planet,” 8 p.m., PBS. Elephant seals, it seems, can go a mile below the water surface and stay for 90 minutes. Scientists rigged up sensor hats, sort of turning seals into research subs. That’s one of many fascinating moments, in this look at efforts to study and boost the sea world. We even see turtle eggs rescued from coyotes’ domain.
3 “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” Netflix. Back in 1984, the original “BHC” had a young Eddie Murphyas Axel, in a delightful mix of serious action and fish-out-of-water humor. Now, 40 years later, Murphy is 63 and in his fourth “BHC” film; this time, Axel is helping his daughter, a lawyer.
4) Roger Corman marathon, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies. Corman, who died last month at 98, made fairly good movies on very tiny budgets. We’ll see some on three Wednesdays, starting with “X: The Man With X-Ray Eyes” (1963); “A Bucket of Blood” (1959), 9:30; “The Wasp Woman” (1959), 10:45 and “Little Shop of Horrors” (1960, 12:15).
5) ALSO: On the eve of July 4, networks aree sticking to reruns. Fox has the season-openers of “MasterChef” (millennials audition) and “Food Stars” (teams are chosen). ABC has“Abbott Elementary” at 9 and 9:30, with Janine hesitantly preparing her substitute.
