1) “Orphan Black: Echoes” opener, 10 p.m., AMC and BBC America. Here are two gifted actresses. One (Keeley Hawes) knows a secret; the other (Krysten Ritter) doesn’t know anything, including her own identity. Then this becomes a brisk adventure, with Ritter (shown here) running from and toward unknown forces. It’s a great start.
2) “Grantchester,” 9 p.m., PBS. This may be the best episode in eight-plus seasosns. It has a solid mystery – an abandoned baby, a dead hotel manager, etc. — plus rich personal drama: Will agreed to move to a bigger church; now his friends try to change his mind. That follows a good “Professor T,” with the prof in prison and still solving crimes.
3) More dramas.. The 9 p.m. hour is stuffed with new episodes, including “House of the Dragon” (HBO), “The Chi” (Showtime), the season-finale of “Billy the Kid” (MGM+) … and a stunning “Interview With the Vampire,” on AMC+. The trial of Louis and friends is done as a stageplay – fierce, riveting and brutally detailed.
4) U.S. Olympic trials. NBC and Peacock have diving from 2-3 p.m. ET. and 7 p.m., then switch briefly to swimming at 8. Track-and-field is 8:30-11 p.m.; it continues Sunday, takes two days off, then returns Thursday, alongside the start of gymnastics.
5) “Journey2: The Mysterious Island,” 7-10 p.m., CW. In a “Journey to the Center of the Earth” sequel, Sean (Josh Hutcherson) learns his grandfather may be alive … on an island that might not exist. He heads there with his mom’s husband (Dwayne Johnson) Also tonight, “Sense and Sensibility” (1995) i5:30 p.m. ET. On Turner Classic Movies.
