1) Olympic track-and-field trials begin, 6:30 p.m., USA Network, 9 p.m., NBC, both also on Peacock. This is what used to dominate the Olympics, filled with running and leaping (shown here). It continues through Monday, pauses, then returns June 27, Also today: swimming at 5:30 p.m. on USA and 8 on NBC, swimming and diving in the daytime on Peacock.
2) Food shows. At 8 p.m., CW has its second “Big Bakeover” episode; Nancy Birtwhistle helps a widowed baker. At 9, PBS repeats Monday’s “Great American Recipe” hour. And the Food Network has a Guy Fieri marathon: “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” is sandwiched by “All-American Road Trip” – a rerun at 1 p.,m. and a new Wyoming hour at 9.
3) “Roots of Comedy” debut, 10 and 10:30 p.m., PBS.In half-hour chunks over three Fridays, Jesus Trejo meets a variety of stand-up comics. In Minneapolis, Ali Sultan, who is from Yemen, discusses his mental-health struggles. In Texas, Vanessa Gonzalez returns to Laredo, where she grew up as the daughter of border-patrol agents,
4) “SWAT,” 9 p.m., CBS. This reruns the second half of the season-opener: An escaped prisoner is missing in Mexico City, with a bomb that could kill thousands. That’s followed by “Blue Bloods,” with a voodoo-linked murder.
5) ALSO: “Trigger Warning” – a Jessica Alba action film – debuts today on Netflix. Other key films include “42” (2013, with Chadwick Boseman as Jackie Robinson) at 7 and 9:45 p.m. on TruTV; “Mulan” (2020), 8:30 p.m. on Freeform; and two fun films — “School of Rock” (2003) and “Wayne’s World” (1992), at 8 and 10:30 p.m. on Pop.
