1) “American Ninja Warrior” couples championship, 8-10 p.m., NBC. For NBC, this starts a summer surge. Tonight (shown here) – a week before the regular “ANW” season begins — 12 couples compete. On Tuesday, “America’s Got Talent” starts its season. Both shows lead into new game-show episodes; tonight it’s “The Weakest Link,” with host Jane Lynch and eight military veterans.
2) ““The Great War” opener, 8 p.m., History Channel, rerunning at 10:05 p.m. and 12:03 and 2:05 a.m.. This two-day, four-hour documentary takes a fresh look at World War I. Leading into it are some of the channel’s previous films — “Hidden Heroes” at 7 a.m.; “World War II in HD” at 8 a,m.; and “The World Wars” from 2-8 p.m. On Tuesday, the opener reruns at 6 p.m., with the finale at 8.
3) More Memorial Day shows. “Band of Brothers” — a richly crafted HBO mini-series about a real World War II unit – reruns on AMC, from 11 a.m. to 1:19 a.m. Also, Fox reruns “’MASH: The Comedy That Changed Television,” from 8-10 p.m. And Turner Classic Movies wraps its marathon with “Darby’s Rangers” at 5:45 p.m., “Three Came Home” at 8 and “Bridge on the River Kwai” at 10.
4) “All American,” 8 p.m., CW. It’s the 100th episode for a show that mostly goes unnoticed. Spencer (Daniel Ezra, who also directed this episode) nears one of the biggest games of his football career; to get ready, he re-visits his past. And Layla, working through her mental-health recovery, plans a surprise for Jordan.
5) “Harry Wild,” 9 p.m., BBC America; also streaming on Acorn. This is an exceptionally dark episode – especially for the fairly light-hearted world of “Harry” and other Acorn mysteries. A murder has happened inside a seemingly impenetrable
room. The result adds up, but requires diving into some dark souls.
