1) “I Am Steve McQueen,” 8-10 p.m., CW. One generation has Sir Steve McQueen, the Oscar-winning director; another had this Oscar-nominated actor (shown here). As a teen, he was in the reformatory; as a Marine, he was in the brig. He battled directors, raced motorcycles and died at 50. He was a potent film force; one example, “The Great Escape” (1963), will be 5 p.m. ET Sunday on Turner Classic Movies.
2) “The Equalizer,” 8 p.m., CBS. This rerun finds Dante’s old training partner held hostage in an illegal casino. For a rescue, Robyn needs help from a gambling addct, played by Mike Epps. Also, her daughter is being bullied online.
3) Sports. You can choose a sport today. There are playoff games in basketball (Celtics-Pacers, 8:30 p.m. ET, ABC) and hockey (Edmonton-Dallas, 8 p.m., TNT), ABC also has United Football League games at noon and 3 p.m.; Fox has baseball – Cubs-Cards or Dodgers-Reds, varying by region – at 7:15.
4) Military movies, Turner Classic Movies. The entire Memorial Day weekend will be stuffed with films about war and its aftermath. Today’s are fairly obscure, led by Sam Fuller’s “Merrill’s Marauders” (1962) at 7:45 a.m. and Robert Aldrich’s “Attack” (1956) at 8 p.m. Sunday includes “Dirty Dozen” (1967) at 2:15 p.m.; “Great Escape” and “The Best Years of Our Lives” (1946) at 10.
5) More movies. CMT has a Patrick Swayze spurt, with “Dirty Dancing” at noon amd 5:30 p.m. and “Ghost” at 2:30. FX goes Disney, with “Raya and the Last Dragon” at 5:30, “Moana” at 8 and the 2020 “Mulan” at 10:30. But the bonus is “Homeless to Harvard” – a terrific real-life story from 2003 – at 8 on Lifetime Movie Network.
