Best-bets for May 18: Elvis, Jake & Bruce Lee

1) “Saturday Night Live” season-finale, 11:29 p.m., NBC. The 49th season concludes and “SNL” starts preparing for a big-deal 50th. 1) “Saturday Night Live” season-finale, 11:29 p.m., NBC. The 49th season concludes and “SNL” starts preparing for a big-deal 50th. Tonight, Jake Gyllenhaal – now beefed up for his “Road House” remake (shown here) on Amazon Prime – has his third turn as host. Sabrina Carpenter – a former Disney star, now 25 – has her first as music guest.

2) “The Equalizer” and “CSI: Vegas,” 8 and 9 p.m., CBS. Sunday will bring the season-finales for both shows – the fourth season for “Equalizer,” the third (and final) one for “Vegas.” First, here are reruns – a murder inside a moving subway and then a murder in a dark factory – with artificial-intelligence as a possible villain.

3) “I Am Bruce Lee,” 8-10 p.m., CW. For a time, Lee might have gone unnoticed – a University of Washington student and then a martial-arts instructor. But he wanted to return to acting, which he had done as a boy in Hong Kong, where his dad was a star. He did TV (“Green Hornet” and three “Batman” episodes) and starred in five movies, before his death (apparently cerebral edema) at 32,

4) “Jailhouse Rock” (1957), 8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies. Mike Stoller and Jerry Lieber weren’t that familiar with Elvis Presley before he recorded their “Hound Dog.” They didn’t really like his version of the song (which was already a hit for Big Mama Thornton) … until the sales figures arrived. The next year, Presley made this film, stuffed with strong Stoller-Lieber songs.

S) ALSO: The season-finale of “48 Hours” is 10 p.m. on CBS. And.as the hockey and basketball play-offs continue, there’s also baseball. Fox Sports1 has Mariners-Orioles at 4:05 p.m. ET; Fox has (varying by region) Angels-Rangers or Padres-Braves at 7:15. Also, ESPN2 has the United Football League, with Houston and Birmingham at 8.
