1) “Tonight Show” anniversary. 9-11 p.m., NBC. After some stumbles, NBC had a fresh idea: Jimmy Fallon — then 39, boyish and upbeat — took over “Tonight” on Feb. 17, 2014. Ratings soared, then feel due to Covid, strikes and other shows’ focus on Trump-era satire. Now Fallon (shown here) is No. 3 in ratings, but thriving. In prime time, he’s had three game shows plus this clip-filled special.
2) “The Cleaning Lady,” 8 p.m., Fox. A week from the two-hour season-finale, the story moves into overdrive. Thony knows about the FBI spy … Jorge has a big business deal for Nadia … his sister Ramona has a hit man … and the FBI surges into action. Some of this strains credibility, but in a way that works for a soap-style crime thriller.
3) “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” season-finale, 9 p.m., Fox. This is supposed to be the wedding day for Nikki and Mike. Alas, everything is imploding. The hacker who has been working with Jason (Nikki’s ex-husband) is missing; Jason scrambles to find her … and to prove his boss (Gil Bellows) is responsible for the car bombs.
4) More near-finales. Five more dramas are a week from their season-finales. That includes all three FBI shows on CBS, plus “Will Trent” and “The Rookie,” at 8 and 9 p.m. on ABC. And “The Good Doctor” (10 p.m., ABC), is a week from its series finale; tonight, Claire returns from Guatemala, needing a personal exam.
5) ALSO: At 9 p.m., one non-fiction show debuts and another departs. Arriving is CW’s “Hostage Rescue,” viewing real rescue efforts. Ending is “The Express Way”: Dule Hill – an actor (“West Wing,” “Psych”) and dancer — visits arts programs; tonight, he’s in the vibrant Chicago scene.
