1) “Ghosts” season-finale, 8:30 p.m. Thursday, CBS. This wraps its season early, leaving room for “Young Sheldon” to have a couple two-episode Thursdays. It’s time for Isaac to have something he wouldn’t have imagined in his lifetime – a wedding (shown here) to another man … who was a British officer … whom Isaac killed in the Revolutionary War. Then a surprise guest complicate the celebration.
2) “Jeopardy Masters” opener, 8-9 p.m. Wednesday, ABC. Over nine hours, we’ll see James Holzhauer, Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio, Mattea Roach, Victoria Groce and Yogesh Raut compete. That takes four Wednesdays, plus (starting next week) three Mondays and two Fridays. In theshuffle, “The Conners” moves to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, (behind “Abbott Elementary.”
3) “Prisoner in Russia,” 10 p.m. Wednesday, ABC. Robin Roberts — a former sports reporter, now in news – tackles a story that mixes both: At 6-foot-9, Brittney Griner has been a pro-basketball star. In 10 seasons, she’s led the league eight times in blocks and once in scoring. But in Russia, she was arrested for having hash oil. Imprisoned for 10 months, she was freed via a prisoner exchange.
4) “Parish” season-finale, 9 p.m. Sunday, AMC, repeating at 10. A great season has a less-great finish. Alternate desires have tugged at Gray Parish (Giancarlo Esposito), the former getaway driver. He wants a new life with his wife and daughter … and revenge for the death of his son. The finale is well-crafted and high-octane, yet feels a bit out-of-sync with everything that preceded it.
5) “Bob (Hearts) Abishola,” 8:30 p.m. today, CBS. Gina Yashere has been at the core of this show’s wit. The daughter of Nigerian immigrants, she co-created “Bob,” giving its characters a crisp bluntness. She also plays Kemi, Abishola’s co-worker, who tonight has a Las Vegas wedding. It’s the show’s second-to-last episode … and a chance for more spectacle, after last week’s musical dream scene.
6) “The Veil” opener, Tuesday, Hulu. Snowscapes, bleak and barren, offer an ominous backdrop for dramas. We’ve seen that lately in “True Detective” and “A Murder at the End of the World”; now Elisabeth Moss is a clever spy, reaching a snowbound refugee camp in Turkey. Great dialog is delivered by gifted people, led by Moss and Yumna Marwan, a Lebanese actress in a mysterious role.
7) “Elsbeth,” 10 p.m. Thursday, CBS. It’s always fun to see Elsbeth Tascioni solve a murder … even when things seem to fall in place too easily, as they do here. Elsbeth (gleefully played by Carrie Preston) is described by a business mogul (Keegan-Michael Key) as “oddly persistent – and persistently odd.” She is; she’s also sharply observant and relentlessly cheerful, an engaging combination.
8) “Welcome to Wrexham” season-opener, 10 and 11 p.m. Thursday, FX. Things start just this side of ecstasy: Last season ended with Wrexham’s soccer team triumphing, winning promotion to a higher league. We see the giddy celebration … and harsh reality. There are potent moments centering on scorer Paul Mullin, goalkeeper Ben Foster … and a likable photographer who’s never been to a game.
9) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m. Saturday, NBC, In a 32-episode stretch, only Bad Bunny has doubled as host and music guest. Now Dua Lipa does, while continuing a “Barbie” trend: This season, two of the movie’s actors (Ryan Gosling, Kate McKinnon) have hosted; two from the soundtrack (Ice Spice, Billie Eilish) were music guests. Lipa was Mermaid Barbie and had the album’s first single.
10) “MaryLand” opener, 9 p.m. Sunday, PBS. Eve Best and Suranne Jones play sisters – one involved with their parents, the other immersed in a big-city, big-business world. Then a jolt has them viewing their mother’s hidden life. Jones created this with Anne-Marie O’Conner, who wrote the script – a three-parter with much more depth than the “Call the Midwife” season-finale that precedes it..
