1) “Young Sheldon,” 8 p.m., CBS. Some shows build an entire finale around a wedding. For “Sheldon,” that’s just one piece of a big, busy episode, five weeks from the series finale. Yes, Georgie and Mandy get married (shown here), in a brisk scene that has both big laughs and warmth. But there’s much more here, ranging from the baby to the illegal casino, affecting 10 great (and varied) characters.
2) “So Help Me Todd,” 9 p.m., CBS. After a three-week gap, “Todd” returns with a broadly funny hour. At the core is an opera diva, a role that can’t be overplayed (although Jenifer Lewis comes close). As usual, a confession comes way too easily. Still, it’s a clever story that entwines Margaret’s colleagues (especially Lyle) and has great moments for her daughter, a doctor in a downer phase.
3) “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” 9 p.m., NBC. The first seven minutes offer quietly moving moments, as Benson’s (Mariska Hargitay) adoptive son asks about his biologic father, a rapist. The final minutes include some rough moments, as Benson diverts from procedure. In between is a taut, high-energy effort to rescue a teen girl.
4) “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” 10 p.m., NBC. Trying to help his addicted brother, Stabler is flung into a taut world of military veterans and Afghanistan drug-dealers. It’s a strong episode but, in this show’s style, leaves us hanging until next week.
5) ALSO: CBS adds guest stars – Lamorne Morris (“New Girl”) as the poltergeist of a Negro League baseball player on “Ghosts” (8:30) and Retta (Parks and Recreation) as a secretive matchmaker on “Elsbeth” (10). As it happens, “Patti Stanger: Matchmaker” debuts at 8 p.m. on CW. It’s followed by a rerun of the so-so debut of “Lovers and Liars” (an “FBoy Island” spin-off) at 9.
